Martin Schlather is professor for stochastics and its applications at the Faculty for Mathematics and Computer Science of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. He is also speaker of the Centre for Statistics at the University. He is interested in developing and characterising models for spatial processes, including Gaussian random fields, marked point processes and spatial extreme values. He is interested in applications within natural sciences, agriculture, and finance. Martin Schlather has published more than 20 articles in peer reviewed journals.
Furthermore, he has developed three R packages. Among them is RandomFields, a programme to simulate and estimate Gaussian random fields and and max-stable processes.
